In remembrance of Rwanda’s 100 days of genocide, April 6-July 4, 1994
Grace Rwanda Society presents:
Rwandan humanitarian aid worker Carl Wilkens: the only American to remain in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide, speaking to a public audience about his experiences during the genocide and about "The Vital Role of Education in Rwanda Today.”
June 27, 2010
2-5 p.m.
St Helen’s Church, 3871 Pandora Street, Burnaby
Mr. Wilkens’ experiences have been featured in the New York Times, the PBS Frontline documentary “Ghosts of Rwanda,” and the National Public Radio documentary “The Few Who Stayed: Defying Genocide.”
The afternoon event will be attended by community members, local media, interested affiliates, and the general public.
"Wilkens is, hands down, the best speaker I have ever introduced to my students. He is inspiring, honest, kind, passionate, and genuine. He is an extraordinary, riveting storyteller. Most of all, he will gently challenge you to examine your life and your connections with others."
