Carbon Talks is a new initiative of the SFU Centre for Dialogue in collaboration with the Segal School of Business, the SFU School for International Studies and the SFU School for Public Policy. The goal of Carbon Talks is to advance Canadian global competitiveness by shifting to a low-carbon economy. Over the next year, Carbon Talks will be organizing a series of on-campus dialogues that feature leading innovators and change-makers in the low-carbon economy.
Shawn Burns is the founder of Carbon Credit Corp and the Carbon Smart™ brand. He formed CCC as an independent, for-profit entity that believes market–based approaches to environmental problems offer the best potential for success and sustainability. Previously a veteran of “business for development” activities, for the past 15 years he has been applying innovative information and communication technologies (ICT’s) to sustainable development challenges in over 25 emerging nations in Africa, Central America, and Asia.
In 2009, Shawn was featured in the CBC production called Carbon Hunters.
