social media

Social media pays off for Canada's World - have you joined Facebook/Twitter yet?

We had a great members' meeting on Thursday, March 9. The morning meeting session was an ideal lead-in to the afternoon workshop, which was on engagment through the use of social media. The morning focused on making and sustaining connections within the international development community in BC and we received very helpful feedback for the work done in the last 12 months and suggestions for the next 12 months. Notes can be found here.

Joining us for the afternoon session were Shauna Sylvester and Kaitlyn Braybooke from Canada's World.

Shauna Sylvester at BCCIC! Don't Miss it

Shauna Sylvester and Canada's World have been using social media tools for a few years to faciliate a national dialogue about Canada's evolving role on the international stage. These tools have been very successful for them, and they have a lot of great lessons to share with us about how to use social media like Facebook and Twitter to reach out to new constituencies - especially young people.

Thank you for a successful International Development Week 2010!

International Development Week (IDW) took place from February 6 to 13, 2010. This year, BCCIC profiled eight youth, ages 15-26, from around British Columbia who are acting as global citizens in their communities. The youth were profiled on our webpage and each youth had an article, podcast and YouTube video produced which outlined their achievements.

The possibilities of Social Media in Campaign Mobilizing & Outreach

We're getting ready to offer an exciting new workshop for BCCIC members. It will focus on "hands on" skills for social media tools like Facebook and Twitter.
