You are warmly invited to attend Kitimat 2030, a non-partisan all candidates meeting being held on April 6th in Kitimat.
The BC Council for International Cooperation will be sponsoring this event which we will ask local candidates how they will show leadership on key sustainable development issues in Kitimat. So far both Liberal candidate, Ellis Ross, and NDP candidate, Bruce Bidgood, have confirmed their attendance.
Kitimat 2030 grew out of community consultations around how the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals show-up in Kitimat and how local leaders can show leadership on them. Through these meetings participants identified “Sustainable Industry, Decent Work and Inequality” as key issues they wanted candidates to address.
Not your usual candidates forum, ‘Kitimat 2030’ is a community conversation that creates a chance for local candidates to hear what’s important to you and why. Local candidates will participate as ‘Guest Listeners’ to hear from the community before being given the chance to answer questions and tell us how they will show leadership on sustainable industry, decent work and inequality in Kitimat. Details are below:
Kitimat 2030 is a public event and everyone is welcome, so please bring a friend and share the event with your networks and on your social media. If you have any questions or would like to get involved then please contact the chair of the local Kitimat 2030 organizing committee at: MHemmy@kves.ca
Looking forward to seeing you on April 6th!
