Peacetalk #35 Women’s Human Rights at Risk

Thursday, Mar 2, 2017

Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm

PeaceGeeks in partnership with Amnesty International Vancouver would like to present Women’s Human Rights at Risk.

This talk aims to uncover how women and girls around the world are disproportionately impacted by mega-projects and resource extraction. Too often, the economic development model adopted by government violates Indigenous land rights, threatens Indigenous cultures, and heightens the risk that Indigenous women and girls will experience violence.

In the lead up to International Women’s Day, panel members will speak to the challenges and offer some ways forward.

PeaceGeeks is a global non-profit, volunteer organization that uses technology to build the technological, communications and management capacities of grassroots organizations who work to promote peace, accountability and human rights. We develop partnerships with these organizations to provide meaningful support designed to increase their skills, effectiveness and impact.
