With our strategic plan drawing to a close in the coming months, BCCIC will be entering a strategic planning process ahead of September’s AGM that will chart our course as a network from 2018-2021.
Over the last three years, BCCIC membership has increased by 185% and we have mapped over 2100 additional groups within the province that are working on the Sustainable Development Goals. We have had many interesting and fruitful conversations with the Federal government and opened conversation with the Provincial government, as well as several Municipal governments. We have held over 50 capacity building and learning opportunities for members and have BCCIC Chapters in almost every region of the province. We have achieved and surpassed the objectives of our current strategic plan, but there is much more to be done and many new factors to consider.
The last three years have been notable to say the least, a new Canadian government was ushered in, the world unanimously agreed to the Sustainable Development Goals, and British Columbia is finding itself on the edge of a Pacific century rich with opportunity to grow our presence as a global hub. These opportunities do not come without great challenges. The world in which civil society exists is changing quickly: Global politics are dramatically shifting, global threats such as climate change are on the rise, and technology and big data are transforming the way we work and our ability to take action.
BCCIC members are invited to participate in a strategic planning session with BCCIC board and staff in April that will lay the groundwork for the design and development of a new strategic plan that will carry us from 2018 through to 2021. As a membership based network, the board and staff look forward to meeting with you all to present and discuss the outcomes of our previous strategic plan, collect membership feedback on the direction of the network, and share ideas for the future. BCCIC members of all types (Full Organizational, Affiliate, Individual, Chapter) are encouraged to attend. Full members are invited to bring two representatives.
