BC COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
South Vancouver Island Chapter (BCCIC-SOVI)
The South Vancouver Island Chapter of the BC Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC-SOVI) is currently seeking a permanent part-time Chapter Coordinator who will:
• Promote the increased capacity of BCCIC members, partners, and others in the South Vancouver Island involved in international development and global-local issues in flexible, creative, and innovative ways and within the context of aid and development effectiveness;
• Empower BCCIC members, partners, and others in the South Vancouver Island involved in international development and global-local issues to raise awareness, knowledge, and action by BC citizens.

The BCCIC-SOVI Chapter provides a network for individuals and organizations, to connect for information sharing and project collaboration in a combined initiative towards sustainable global development. BCCIC-SOVI vision is to provide a partnership space to lower island communities to enhance their engagement in global cooperation for a just, equitable, and sustainable world. Formed in September of 2016, the Chapter is lead by a steering committee comprised of a chair, vice chair and six members-at-large. To date the chapter has a small but growing membership and has successfully engaged in several activities and events.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance and supervision of the Chapter Steering Committee and in collaboration with local BCCIC members, partners, and Vancouver-based BCCIC staff, the Chapter Coordinator will:
• Build and grow relationships with and among existing Chapter members and partners, while exploring and developing new relationships within the context of international development and global-local issues;
• Organize and manage a minimum of three networking and/or capacity-building opportunities in the region; and additional events, subject to funding.
• Manage the finances connected with each of the aforementioned program streams, including finding additional local funds to support this work as time allows, based on the program needs of the Chapter partners and members;
• Provide written detailed invoices and expense claims for all expenditures with supporting receipts and invoices where necessary. Full budget details are provided in the Chapter Google Drive;
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on these programs;
• Contribute to the Chapter and BCCIC communications streams, such as website, social media, annual report, and a minimum of three articles for BCCIC’s newsletter; The Chapter will have a presence on the BCCIC website which is to be managed by BCCIC. In collaboration with the Chapter, the Contractor will submit the three events planned to BCCIC to be posted to their webpage as well as provide all the initial information for the website page and any updates as needed; and,
• Participate in meetings in person and via electronic tools as reasonably requested by BCCIC, based on both the Chapter and BCCIC’s mutual interest in working together collaboratively with each other and with other Chapter networks.
WHO YOU ARE
• Proven event management skills with the ability to work well under pressure with a sensitivity to tight timelines;
• Experience in the creation of marketing and communication materials including newsletters, PPT presentations, sponsorship packages, etc.;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation;
• Strong problem solving skills;
• Experience working in the non-profit sector; and,
• Experience in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PPT, Publisher).
• Undergraduate degree in business, communications, social sciences, or international development combined with 1-2 years related experience;
• Experienced in the recruitment and management of volunteers;
• An awareness of the civil societies and non-profit organizations in Greater Victoria.
SCOPE AND REMUNERATION
The coordinator will work from their own home office environment. Remuneration is based on a contracted hourly rate of $20 to a maximum of $6300 for the fiscal year. Some evening and/or weekend work may be involved. A car is essential.
